Sam's Yams Big Boyz Dog Treats are made of very thick slabs of sweet potato, dehydrated. Designed for larger breeds, but smaller dogs will enjoy them as well and they will last them a good long time. Each slice is perforated in order to assist in the dehydration of such a large piece. The surface is hard so as to provide dental benefits, yet the chews have a texture similar to rawhide. Each chew has the nutritional value of half of a large sweet potato.

 Moldy and overpriced! August 11, 2008
I bought these from a store without looking at the price and when I opened the bag, they were moldy. Interestingly, it appeared the mold had been dried along with the yams which means they came that way from the factory. Needless to say, they were returned and I'll never try them again. When I realized the steep price, I decided that I could easily make my own with a dehydrator, since the pooches LOVE yams.

I have 5 medium sized dogs. And they just love these chews. This is the only treat I buy for them. Since the pet food scare I bake all their treats. But I do still buy these. As they are natural dried Yams.
they don't last very long (5 minutes if I'm lucky). But they are a bit hit. I give them each one a week to keep them busy while I unload groceries.

My golden retreiver and my carolina dog love these chews. Unlike alot of dog treats, these are not made in China but the USA. I avoid dog food from China because of the unsafe food supply there. Also, sweet potatoes help firm up the dog's loose stools. This is an easy way to give them sweet potatoes when I don't have time to prepare some from scratch.
Great...but wish they lasted longer! February 18, 2007
I was looking for an alternative to rawhide, and I tried these. My lab loves these treats! Never had any problems as mentioned in the previous review. I just wished they lasted longer! My lab is a real "chew-er" and they are gone in minutes.
 All natural but still made my girl sick January 29, 2007
I was very excited about this alternative to rawhide, however my girl threw up 5 hours later big hard chunks of the yam : (
Good product, just not right for my girl!
