Product Description The pet lover's dematting tool! 6 stainless steel blades present smooth, non-cutting edge to pet's skin. Comfort grip handle provides complete control. Blades have special transverse tines that rake out mats as the hair passes through the blades. Will go through almost any animal's coat.

It Really Works December 30, 2008 We have a beautiful long-haired cat. Each winter his fur gets matted, and even though the mats make him very uncomfortable, he won't let us brush or cut the mats out. We got a Matbreaker just a few weeks ago, and have been using it in short sessions as frequently as possible. It works - our cat's fur is much smoother - many of the mats are gone, and new ones can't form because we keep ahead of them. This is a great product.
Eases the method of removing matting of your dog's coat December 22, 2008 I have tried many other tools to remove matted hair from our Bichon Frise, and I have even cut my finger using them.
This simple tool allows me to rake across the matted area easily and take the mats away. Constructed of hard plastic and rubber grips, the Matbreaker is compact and comfortable. The blades can be replaced which is a big plus.
Even with constant brushing, my dog gets mats around the neck and the junction between the flanks and legs.
VERDICT
I highly recommend this tool.
Fabulous ~ Must Have! December 7, 2008 I have yorkies (seven of them)... I stayed away from matt breakers for a long time, but I have one or two coats that they seem to tangle into massive matts at will. So, I bought one... and am glad I did. I just comb it gently through, just like I am brushing them, and voile'. My babies are willing to work with it as it does not hurt them as I just comb it through (hold hair you are working on and comb).
As for the water issue... balony! I have used it on wet, yucky, ran into a little foreign matter, rinsed it.. etc... (no rust). I shake it after washing and dry the edges... I don't go between the blades.
When it gets worn out, you can get replacement blades which are very easy to install. It is a must have for every grooming kit for long-haired babies.
Use a little common sense, and you, your pet, and your matt breaker will be happy!
Works great, just dont get it wet October 20, 2008 I can't believe it took me so long to get this tool to remove matts. It is also a great tool for thinning the coat in those matt prone areas, which prevents the problem in the first place....Only issue I have is that it is not made out of stainless steel, so if you get the "teeth" wet they rust almost immediately. Don't use these on a wet dog and don't wash them as you will find that hand drying them is impossible without getting sliced up.
Good for the crankiest of cats September 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My cat is a total jerk. We have one short hair, sweet tempered cat, and one long haired total jerk of a cat.
Our long haired cat this year had about nine giant dreadlocks in his fur. We tried to comb them out with a fine toothed comb, but he hissed and ran away from us any time he was approached with a comb. He will not tolerate being brushed for more than three seconds at a time.
This thing looks daunting and scary. I was skeptical, but ordered it anyway. It is basically five razor blades. In the short, three second intervals I was allowed to comb my cat before he ran off and hid, I was able to remove all of the dreads - it took about 12 sessions (12x3 = about 36 total seconds). Some were big, some were small. All in all, I'd recommend this product for a cranky, hairball of a jerk cat - whom you still love (for some unknown reason). We were both impressed with how easily you can remove the entire dread - and how soft our cat is again. (He does let you pet him - sometimes...)
