Feliway diffuser calms aggressive cat August 13, 2008 My cat was indoor/outdoor for 10 years. An unexplained midnight injury resulting in the loss of her eye has changed everything, and now I lock her in every night. She is angry, every night, and had actually started attacking me. I hold the cat right by the Feliway diffuser and pet her, and she is now her normal loving self, rubbing against me and purring. This stuff works for calming--I don't know about the marking as that wasn't my issue.
What's The Big Deal? July 16, 2008 So, I bought the diffuser just about a month ago and I am not really sensing calmness in my cats. I think you have to put a diffuser in every single room of the house, but I hate to spend that much money if it still doesn't work.
Cat only sprays once in a while instead of every day. July 15, 2008 I must qualify this by saying I have a sociopathic cat that is very tempermental and uses the living room carpet as his marquee sign to communicate with me. Because of that, I have two Feliway diffusers and they have significantly cut down on his spraying. It hasn't stopped altogether, but at this point a reduction is good news. So, I would recommend this product.
Not sure if it is working July 14, 2008 I am not sure if this product is really calming my cats down. I bought Feliway at my vet's reccomendation to calm my cat that has been licking her fur off on her belly because of stress. I have noticed the cat licking the area a little less than before but it could also be due to the extra attention she is getting to relieve the stress. Also, this product is very expensive for no apparent reason. I could understand if it were some miracle cure but it isn't.
Excessive vocalization seemingly resolved! July 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We were having vocalization problems with our cat that began mysteriously and about four months into the problem, we had had just about enough. It was time for a trip to the vet.
We live in a moderately sized apartment and the cat would sleep normally throughout the day and night but durning his waking hours, he seemed obsessed by one thing: getting out of the apartment. He would sit by the door and meow (or shall I say "scream") nonstop. We felt guilty...we'd occasionally let him out to wander in the stairwell (which the neighbors did not really appreciate) and living on the 5th floor, he'd wander increasingly to the 1st floor exit of our building. We were concerned that he'd wander out of the building and when we did not let him outside, we were concerned that his incessant meowing would annoy the neighbors (it was certainly driving us crazy). He is neutered and we tried just about everything...we tried spraying him with water when the bad behavior began, we tried ignoring him, we tried playing with him and praising him when he was in a normal state, but the meowing continued...
I was very skeptical about this product when the Vet recommended it to us. Plus, in Europe, it is quite expensive. I am knocking on wood as I write this review but in about 3-4 days, we are seeing very positive results. The problem is not 100 percent resolved but I'd say that the vocalization has reduced by 90 percent. Now he'll meow a few times and stop. The cat seems more calm and he does not seem "drugged"...in fact, he seems more attentive and "present." He is interacting with us again and seems to be curious about his environment whereas before, he ignored everything and was determined by only one objective: sit by the door and meow like crazy. He is relaxed, he is happy, he is happy to be with us...we have our cat again!
