5 out of 5 stars Excellent Low Carb Cookbook   February 28, 2010

This is the best of low carbohydrates cookbooks that I personally own and I own many. The only negative in my opinion is the lack of photographs of completed recipes. The Eggplant Casserole is absolutely delicious. Many of the recipes are time consuming and I needed to research different stores to obtain some of the ingredients but they have all been worth the time. The Sausage Wraps were a delightful treat also. The author lists the Total Carbohydrate, Fiber and Net Carb per serving with each recipe. She also lists Tips, Notes and Variations with the recipes. The Introduction to the book also provides helpful information in regards to eating low carb. I can only imagine the time and energy the author put into creating such a wonderful book. I am extremely satisfied with this book.

If you want the lowdown on the constantly changing diet info that is out there, THIS IS IT! This book contains a wealth of good advice from a woman who cooks for a diabetic husband and shares her kitchen experiences with her readers. As a diabetic myself I found this book incredibly helpful, lots of background info on her research and great recipes. Simply a "must-read" for people who want a down to earth cook book.

4 out of 5 stars Not For Common Cooks   February 26, 2009

I would be disappointed in this book, simply because Ms. Baker is a gourmet cook, and I am a plain jane everyday simple cook. However, there are some very good tips in this book that we have been able to put to good use.

Just the tips were worth the cost of the book. But I doubt I will ever really use any of the recipes. I just don't fancy spending hours in the kitchen. Some of the ingredients are not attainable for me unless I spend a lot of money ordering them online. Just not practical for me.

I know this sounds like a downer, but if you eat low carb (we do), and if you love to cook (we don't), you will love this cookbook. Now if you eat low carb, and need some tips on how to get a little variety in your low carb cuisine, you may get enough tips out of this to make the purchase worthwhile.
